Day 2 - Paris

Paris - we woke up at 9 and felt amazing with no jet lag! Thank you supplements :)! The hotel was quite interesting... we had a tiny room with its own sink and a shared bathroom down the hall. The shower was on a timer to conserve water which began to become annoying after some time. But the beds were comfy and the room wasn't too loud.
Our first idea of the day was to take a bus tour to get oriented with the city. We saw these open double Decker busses everywhere and at first it seemed as if they never stopped! Luckily we found one and got onto the yellow open tour' bus complete with an audio guide... a pretty good deal. We saw around 15 sites such as the opera, the louvre, the royal palace, notre dame, the eiffel tower, moulin rouge, sacre coeur.... and plenty more. Our favorite spot was the sacre coeur, well not the church itself but the square next to it. There were artists and restaurants galore! All the sketch artists wanted to draw ariel and one even said "10 minutes I make u beautiful." Lol his English wasnt very good. Here we found the best macaroons. I tried to get one but their minimum was four. We tasted coconut, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Why these aren't every where like froyo in America I don't know, but man were they delicious. As night fell we grabbed dinner in the square and people watched as we ate French onion soup and a smoked salmon salad.
Our decision was to see the eiffel tower all lit up at night. By this point we were pretty good at the subway which BTW we need in san Francisco because it takes u everywhere. We hopped off and there it was lighting the sky, the eiffel tower. As we walked towards the tower there were 100 or so little blankets laid out with the same merchandise everywhere. 5 keychains for 1 euro! The only inexpensive thing in Paris. We decided to wait in line to take the elevator up to the top where it was freezing and windy yet beautiful at the same time. You can see all of Paris and beyond. The best part about the eiffel tower was the light show that I never knew existed. There must have been 20,000 lights blinking at once. The whole crowd ooo'd making the experience even more spectacular. After scaling the eiffel tower we made it to the bottom and found ourselves a crepe stand. Ohhhh baby... nutella, bananas and ice cream; messy but sooo worth it. With our sticky fingers we brought out our cameras to take a picture of the light show that happened at 9 and 10 each night. Hopefully we got some great shots. What a first day.
